New York City Jewelry Shows - News from Leila!

This past weekend we attended the big jewelry and accessories trade shows in New York City.  At the Javits Center was Accessories The Show, showcasing moderately priced to high end jewelry and accessories.  At Pier 94 (the Show Piers) was Accessories Circuit, featuring high-end brand name jewelry, handbags, and shoes for spring.

Trending at both shows:  chunky gemstones paired with baroque pearls - on chains, on leather, on long strands of beads; in long layers and twisted chokers.  All kinds of colored gemstones are big this year, but for spring we saw a lot of blues (chalcedony, blue agate, laboradorite, amazonite) and red/oranges (carnelian, ruby, red jade, red agate).  The freshwater pearls in baroque shapes added a sense of lightness.

This spring you'll see lots of bags with fringes and long necklaces that end in tassels - they were everywhere!  We also noticed people going nuts for gold and silver temporary tattoos that look like jewelry for your arms and neck.

The big international gift show, NYNow, is coming up at the beginning of February in New York City - it takes up all four floors of the huge Javits Convention Center and both of the Show Piers, and it takes at least three days to see the whole thing.  We'll be there and have lots of photos and notes about what we see trending, and writing orders to bring you the best of what we find.

Also this month is the American Made Show, featuring designers and artisans from all over the US.  The show is at the Washington Convention Center on January 16-18 and we'll be there too.  It's trade show season!

Watch this space for more photos from all the shows in the next few weeks.

And don't forget to stop in to Leila to shop our huge January clearance sale, with most of the store marked down from 20-70%!  We need to make room for all the great stuff coming in the spring - and you get to take advantage of the super-low prices!  Going on now, don't miss out on the best deals!
